For many, being a doctor is a dream job. But before you can have your own practice or become a senior doctor, you have to spend at least five years as an assistant doctor. And this can quickly become a nightmare. “Sixty, seventy, even eighty hours a week are not uncommon,” says one affected person who, among other things, worked at the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital (KSW).
