dr Robert Lorenson claims he is “constantly worried” about how to pay his bills but is a director of his family’s investment firm and owns a £500,000 unmortgaged flat.
The leader of the Junior Doctors caused controversy when he went to a friend’s wedding during the first Junior Doctors strike – while urging union members to forego wages and picket lines.
The aspiring GP works for the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and, according to his LinkedIn page, worked as a freelance GP for “Money and Luxury” a year after completing his degree.
dr Laurenson is listed as a director of Westholme Investments Limited along with his parents and siblings.
The company has over £2million in investments and has previously managed a golf course in Surrey that has been described as “one of the best” in the county.
dr Laurenson was appointed Head of School in 2013, a year after beginning his medical studies at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
It is understood that he has no day-to-day duties in the company, receives no salary or dividends and is not a shareholder.
He attended Sevenoaks School in Kent, one of the country’s most prestigious boarding schools, charging up to £46,566 a year for the sixth year.
