The municipal council approves the application for funding to the Interlaken Tourism Organization. The second site manager position has been awarded and outstanding achievements in sports and music are honored.

The municipalities of Interlaken, Matten and Unterseen support the tourism organization (TOI) with a contribution of half a million francs. After the commitment of the municipality of Interlaken (this newspaper reported), Matten is now also in favor of a share of CHF 47,200 as an interest-free loan. The indoor and outdoor swimming pool Bödeli AG receives a bridging loan in the form of an interest-free loan of 45,800 francs. 2350 francs go to Jungfrau World Events AG for the “Indoor Urban Golf” project in the JungfrauPark.

In September, the local council took note that Petra Bylang had resigned from her position as an employee of the building administration at the end of the year. Ten applications were received for the advertised position. Daniel Studer, Matten, was elected as the municipality’s second building manager. The start of the job will take place on March 1, 2021, as announced by the municipal administration.

The honors

The community of Matten annually honors extraordinary successes in sport, culture, science, education and tourism. For the current year these are the following:

  • Sven Michel, Curling: Cup title Mixed Doubles Swiss Cup from September in St. Gallen; Competition in Canada in January victory with Team Europe over Team Canada; second place at the Swiss championship in Thun in February with the Genève team.
  • Alina Pätz, Curling: Cup title Mixed Doubles Swiss Cup from September 2020 in St. Gallen; Competition in Canada in January victory with Team Europe over Team Canada; second place at the Swiss Championships in Thun in February with the Aarau team.
  • Junior Curling Club Bernese Oberland: Tanja Santschi and Mara Grassi (coach), Selina Gafner, Selina Ryvhiger, Fabienne Rieder, Nadine Rieder, Tina Züricher: third place at the Swiss Championships in Adelboden in March.
  • Xavier Fischer, athletics: Swiss champion in his age category UBS Kids Cup 2020.
  • Bowls Club Jungfrau: Larissa Rubin / Bernadet Gafner: first place at the Swiss championship in August in Gstaad for women; Sven Rubin / Tom Gafner: second place in the men’s Swiss championship in Gstaad in August.
  • Loris Faita, drums: Second place with 194 out of 200 possible points at the Swiss Percussion Competition in Winterthur in September in the “Drumset II Advanced Advanced 2007” category.

Alina Pätz and Sven Michel have won the Continental Cup in Canada with their team and are now being recognized by the Matten community for their services.
