Citizens are shouting at the convoy in front of the Seoul Southern District Law on the 17th of the’Jung Ini Case’, a 16-month-old girl who died after being abused by her adoptive parents. Reporter Park Jong-min–“‘I don’t have inflammation, but I ask you to give it a little bit of something to eat.’ (Like this) I thought that I went to the hospital by talking like the three had said.”
An official from Holt Children’s Welfare Association (Holt), who was in charge of the adoption and follow-up of Jung In-yang, who died due to continued abuse by her adoptive parents, appeared in court as a witness on the 17th and said that her adoptive parents told Holt’s recommendation that she had taken Jeong In-yang to the hospital.
On this day, Mr. Holt’s Adoption Officer A, who attended the second trial at the hearing of the 13th Division of the Seoul Southern District Law Criminal Agreement (Judge Shin Hyeok-jae) as a witness, said, I took it to the hospital, but I was so sorry that I didn’t see the hospital for a week…”
Earlier, on September 18 last year, Mr. A received a phone call from Mr. Jang Yang. She was angry at the phone call at the time and said in an enraged voice, “My child hasn’t heard too much lately. She hasn’t eaten for a week, and has been biting the puree that was fed in the morning until now (2pm). I don’t feel sorry when I try to think about it. I get angry and shout out to chew food, but I don’t listen.”
In response, Mr. A said, “I couldn’t understand why the person who said he would raise it like his own child said he was sorry for his child,” and said, “Isn’t it the child’s fault that the child abuse report was received.”
He added, “(I advised her to get a hospital treatment soon), but there was a schedule for that afternoon, and there was a meeting for adopted family members,” he added. “I felt hesitant and reluctant to go to the hospital.”
He also testified that his adoptive parents stated that they had taken Jung In-yang to the hospital.
After talking with Jang on September 18 last year, Mr. A called his adoptive wife Ahn and said, “Please take Jung In-yang to the hospital first,” but he did not receive a call from his adoptive parents on the same day. The next day, on the 19th, Mr. A asked Jang if he had been to the hospital, and he said he received a reply about 3 hours later. According to Mr. A, Mr. Jang said,’I don’t have inflammation, but I ask you to give me a little bit of something to eat.’ When Mr. A asked,’Did you have any other words,’ Jang answered,’Thank you for your concern.’
Mr. A said, “I thought that I went to the hospital because I said it as the third party said,” and “I couldn’t check it myself, so I contacted me to visit my home on Monday after the weekend.”
It was found that the adoptive parents expressed their position on Holt’s side that “the affection for the child remains unchanged” whenever reports of abuse are received.
Holt Children’s Welfare Association. Reporter Park Jong-min-The lack of communication system between Holt’s side and Gangseo child protection agency was also revealed in court on the same day. It was confirmed that Holt had not actually seen Jung In-yang since July 2nd last year.
Holt said it had received a second report of suspected abuse (vehicle neglect incident) in May last year, not from a child protection agency, but from Yang Mo Jang. Mr. A said, “Last year, on August 5th, we heard the detailed situation from Wool.” “I asked Abo before, but during the police investigation process, the testimony of the stepfather and wool were inconsistent, and the reporter could be exposed. I heard that I can’t do it.
Meanwhile, the defendant’s defense at the court on that day tried to bring down a statement that Jung In-yang was a child with many Mongolian spots, but the witness said “It was a bruise distinct from Mongolian spots.”
