If you’re looking for a third-person action-adventure that also tells a funny, cute, and slightly scary story, June’s Ordinary needs to be on your radar. At Gamescom, we had the pleasure of speaking with Rebekah Saltsman, CEO of Finji, about this indie game coming to PC and Mac in 2025.
Ordinary June The game begins with June, a young woman trying to enjoy her summer vacation… with the ability to see ghosts. Suddenly, the ghosts begin to behave strangely, so she must solve the secret of the conspiracy with her friends, even if they do not know about her special ability.
“She sees ghosts. And she’s discovered a secret in the town where she goes to college. She has her friends, and they’re kind of scooby-dooing around,” said Saltsman.
June investigates stray stories with her friends, ending up in “this other place, this other world, where she discovers that she has other abilities because of her ability to ghost to see.”
Action, adventure and puzzles with some ghostly abilities
It is in these areas, in the paranormal world, where she gains other abilities, including combat and crossing movements that clearly separate the two parts of the game: the more relaxed, exploratory parts in the real world and the action in the ghost world, where we get to “defeat monsters” and solve some puzzles.
However, the tone of the game will be light and fun. “We’re not in blood and gore territory here. The story has some teeth. But the visuals, the acting, all of that is definitely T-rated.”
