In the month of June, 3 corona deaths and 75 new infections were registered in Suriname. The number of infections has increased in recent times.
This is evident from the latest update of the figures on the official COVID-19 website of the Surinamese government. The figures also show that in June 32 people ended up in hospital and 2 in intensive care.
Many cases of flu occur during this period, but the distinction between a flu and Covid-19 can only be made by means of a Covid-19 test.
Flu comes in different variants and since there are still many Covid-19 infections, it is strongly recommended to swab if you have the symptoms and / or signs of flu. Only by testing will you know what it really is.
Symptoms and/or signs:
Fever (at least 37.5°C) with no apparent change in focus (or feeling feverish) Coughing Loss of taste or smell Body aches or muscle aches with no apparent other cause Diarrhea or vomiting Nausea Fatigue Chills Shortness of breath Sore throat Confusion Headache (relatively often retro-orbital) Running nose
