With all the health measures that mark the pandemic situation and with the support of Civil Protection, last Tuesday the fifth edition of the “It’s in our blood” campaign was developed and where, once again, Jumilla responded again with a total of 226 people who came to the Health Center to donate blood. In this way, 194 blood donations were obtained, of which 15 were new blood donors and 4 were new marrow donors. These figures have been similar to those achieved in the last edition of 2019, which were just over two hundred donations.
Organisms involved
It is a campaign organized by the Federation of Peñas de la Fiesta de la Vendimia, with the collaboration of the Regional Hemodonation Center, as well as the Jumilla City Council and the Regulatory Council of the PDO Vinos de Jumilla, an organization that delivered some gifts to campaign participants, including openers, hats, coolers and bottles of wine for marrow donors.
The head of the Regional Hemodonation Center, Toñi Gómez, recalled again that in the Region of Murcia around 200 blood donations are still needed per day, since “it continues to operate and we must not forget that the treatments of the sick Oncological and hematological transfusions are daily ”. He assured that “the August campaign in Jumilla is a very important push to have a level of reserves for the first week of September, because we must not forget that blood has an expiration date.”
