There are still eight stages to go, but the Vuelta’2023 seems to be destined for Jumbo-Visma. This Friday, upon arrival at the mythical Col du Tourmalet, the Dutch team once again gave a lesson in incredible supremacy, with Jonas Vingegaard winning stage 13, Sepp Kuss being second (30 seconds behind) and Primoz Roglic third (a 33 seconds). With this scenario, Kuss continues to be the leader of the general classification and definitely becomes the biggest candidate to win the Vuelta.

In the midst of Jumbo-Visma’s absolute dominance, the day turned out to be a nightmare for two of the biggest candidates. Remco Evenepoel gave way very early on the climb to Col d’Aubisque and was unable to recover, whilst João Almeida (sick) also fell behind at the same point and, despite not having lost as much as the Belgian, was definitively out of the race , both for the final victory and the podium. The Portuguese, it should be noted, was 15th in the stage, 6.47 behind Vingegaard.

In the overall calculations, Kuss now commands 1.37 minutes over Primoz Roglic and 1.44 over Jonas Vingegaard. Juan Ayuso, from UAE Team Emirates, is now 4th, at 2.37, while Enric Mas is in 5th, at 3.06. João Almeida appears in 10th position, 8.39 minutes behind the leader.
