The Directorate of Culture of the Honorable City Council of Xalapa prepared a varied cultural billboard for this second week of July, ranging from artistic, dance and musical events, to pictorial exhibitions and Festivals such as the Ophthalmic Children’s Film Festival, in the Xallitic neighborhood.
The activities of the week began on July 12 and 13 with the conference “The Tunnels of Xalapa, The Hidden Truth”, at the Guadalupe Balderas Forum at the Xalapeño Recreational Center at 7:00 p.m., with voluntary cooperation.
This Wednesday, July 13 and Thursday, July 14 at the JJ Herrera Theater at 7:00 p.m., the “Contemporary Scenic Practices and Urban Dances will be held, at a cost of 90 pesos, an event by Artífice, Vocational and Professional Center for the Dance.
On Thursday, July 14, the Scandinavian Film Festival in Mexico (MUCEM) will continue, with the free screening of the film “In the Valley of Shadows”, by Norwegian director Jonas M. Gulbrandsen, at the Guadalupe Balderas Forum of the Xalapeño Recreational Center. at 7:30 p.m.
On July 15 and 16, at 7:00 p.m., Artífice will delight those attending the JJ Herrera Theater with the Flamenco and Stylized Dance Scenic Practices, whose cost of admission will also be 90 pesos.
Likewise, next Friday at the Casa Doña Falla Museo de la Música Veracruzana, the Cheesecake Blizzard Rock Concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. with free admission. In addition to this musical event, this cultural venue opens its doors from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering tours, workshops, songs, courses and recitals to all its visitors.
At 7:00 p.m. on July 15, the exhibition “Landscapes, tickets to travel” by the plastic artist Renatta Vega Arias will be inaugurated at the Xalapeño Recreational Center, an event that will be enlivened with a concert by the Municipal Orchestra of Xalapa ( OMX).
The pictorial exhibition, which will be available until August 15, is made up of works made in different techniques such as oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and engraving, and revives the landscapes of the different places he has traveled in his life, mixing the nude and the landscape, trying to work the latter in situ.
Vega Arias, who since 1991 began to exhibit professionally, is a graduate of the National School of Plastic Arts (ENAP) of the UNAM, and has participated in group and individual shows in CDMX, Veracruz and Havana, Cuba, among others.
On July 16 at 12:00 noon in the IMAC auditorium, Dr. Ricardo Cañas, director of the Museum of the City of Veracruz, will give the conference “Juárez in Veracruz”; and also that day at the Xalapeño Recreational Center, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the chess workshop will continue.
In Plaza Xallitic, on July 16 and 17, the Fifth Edition of the Ophthalmic Children’s Film Festival will be held, whose objective is to bring the seventh Mexican art closer to the smallest of the house, made by children through a model of traveling exhibition in public spaces and cultural venues.
In addition, on the 17th and as part of the “Family Sundays”, the little clowns Chispita, Pelucho and Tribilín will make the boys and girls present laugh at 12:00 in Parque Juárez, while the soloist Gema Juárez will delight with her voice to all those present at 1:00 p.m.
For lovers of religious history in the Veracruzana Capital, the Casa de Xalapa Museum will continue to present the Exhibition “1531-1886 Franciscan Convent of Xalapa” (free admission) from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
