In July 2023, information and communication industry (ICT) exports decreased by 24.3% compared to the same month last year due to the continued weak unit price of semiconductors, the main export item, and the delay in the recovery of demand for ICT devices, etc.
According to the ’23 July Information and Communication Industry (ICT) Import and Export Trends’ announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, exports were 14.61 billion dollars, imports were 11.42 billion dollars, and trade balance was tentatively tallied at 3.19 billion dollars.
In particular, in the case of exports, exports have continued to decline since they recorded 19.31 billion dollars in July of last year, and have been on a downward slope for 13 consecutive months.
However, the decline in exports has been easing since April, showing a 20% level decrease for three consecutive months since May.
By item, semiconductors (Δ33.7%), displays (Δ5.4%), mobile phones (Δ19.6%), computers and peripherals (Δ28.0%), and communication equipment (Δ21.1%) showed decreases.

Information and communication industry (ICT) imports (USD 11.42 billion) decreased by 13.7% compared to the same month last year (USD 13.23 billion) due to a decrease in imports of major parts (semiconductors, etc.) due to a delay in demand recovery in the ICT industry (ICT).
