In July, Ukrainians purchased 101.3 thousand used cars. This is 11.6% less than in the same period last year 2022, and 1.1% more than in June 2023.

Most used cars were purchased on the domestic market: 81.8% of the total number of used car purchase and sale transactions (82.8 thousand).
The share of imports of used cars from abroad amounted to 18.2% (18.5 thousand), which was the highest figure since December 2022. Quantitatively, the result was the largest since August 2022 (at that time 19.4 thousand imported cars with mileage were registered).
Domestic resales
On the domestic market in July, Ukrainians concluded 82.8 thousand transactions for the sale of used cars. This is 23.1% more than in July 2022, when a significant number of used cars were brought from abroad due to the so-called “zero” customs clearance. Compared to the previous month, June 2023, sales were 1.7% less.
Most registration operations on the domestic market were recorded in Kyiv: 13.2 thousand. Together with the Kyiv region, which took third place in the ranking with 8.3 thousand registrations, they account for 21.3% of the total number of used cars sold domestically during July.
The top 5 most active regions in terms of domestic resale of used cars traditionally also included Dnepropetrovsk (2nd place, 9.3 thousand), Lviv (4th place, 7.9 thousand) and Odessa (5th place, 7.1 thousand) areas.

The smallest number of transactions was concluded in regions whose territories are temporarily occupied or where active hostilities are taking place: Kherson (354 transactions), Lugansk (691 transactions) and Donetsk (1,179 transactions) regions. Also, the regions with the least number of sales of used cars are Nikolaev (2 thousand transactions) and Chernihiv (2 thousand transactions) regions.
Import of used cars
18.5 thousand used cars were brought from abroad in July 2023. This figure is 61% less than in July 2022, and 1.9% more than in June 2023.

As in the previous month, used cars from abroad were most actively registered in the Lviv region (2.4 thousand units), in Kiev (1.8 thousand units) and the Kiev region (1.43 thousand units) .
Also among the most active regions are Vinnitsa (1.2 thousand) and Rivne (1.1 thousand) regions.
Least of all “freshly imported” cars were registered in Kherson (36 units), Donetsk (88 units), Luhansk (166 units), Mykolaiv (188 units) and Zaporozhye (268 units) regions.
