Julius Randle of the New York Knicks is Most Improved Player

Julius Randle of the New York Knicks was voted Most Improved Player by the 100 journalists eligible to vote. The NBA announced in a statement.

Randle received a total of 98 out of 100 first votes, the remaining First Place votes received Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons. The Power Forward of the New York Knicks clearly won with 493 points, Grant got 140, closely followed by Michael Porter Jr. (138) from the Denver Nuggets.

Randle was elected All-Star for the first time in his seventh NBA season and also has a good chance of one of the coveted places in the three All-NBA teams. In his second season for the Knicks, the 26-year-old put on 24.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists, and no other player played more on average than Randle (37.6 minutes).

In terms of points and assists, Randle set career highs, 24, 10 and 6 only played Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Nikola Jokic, Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook over a season before the Knicks star.

Thanks to Randle, the Knicks ended an eight-year drought and are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2013. With a record of 41-31, the Knicks posted the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference. Randle joined the Knicks in 2019 after spending the first four years of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, after which the power forward also played one season for the New Orleans Pelicans.
