Julieth Lozano Rolong, World’s Best Soprano, Performs in Bogotá for New Year’s Eve Concert

For the singer Julieth Lozano Rolong, the best way to say goodbye to 2023 and welcome 2024 was to sing in the city where she was born. Last year she became the best soprano in the world – thanks to the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition prize – which she won in London mid-year.

And he came to Bogotá to perform as the main soloist of the Great New Year’s Eve Concert, which reached its 16th edition, at the Cafam Theater. The event also celebrated the 15 years of the stage and the Bogotá Fosbo Symphony Orchestra Foundation.

The voice of Lozano and the Fosbo, guided by the Spanish guest conductor Francisco Valero-Terribas, performed a musical program that began with classical European authors, among them Mozart (with Im uomini soldati), A. Dvorak (Carnival Overture and Song to the Moon , from the Rusalka Opera) and Donizetti (with the Don Pasquale overture).

And after going through fragments of Zarzuelas like Doña Francisquita and Cecilia Valdez, in addition to Hallelujah, by Handel, they delighted the Bogotá public that attended on the night of the last day of 2023, with a third part, titled ‘Amores en Colombia’.
