Julien Meyer will leave Chartres to join Schaffhausen in 2023

The French colony abroad continues to expand. Julien Meyer, the goalkeeper of Chartres (1.97 m, 25 years old), signed up on Monday with the Swiss club Schaffhausen (Schaffhausen in French) from the summer of 2023. The young international (7 selections) has signed up for two years.

Announced as a future great after his exceptional performances in the French youth teams (2014 European youth champion, 2015 junior world champion), the Alsatian has not yet confirmed the promises of his youth. After a half-hearted stint at Chambéry (2016-2021), he found more playing time this season at Chartres (11th in the Championship in total saves: 106, or 7.6 on average) but wondered on the evolution of the C’CMHB project.

Schaffhausen, a regular European Cup club

In Schaffhausen, he will join a Championship lower than the Starligue but a structured club, used to European Cups. After enjoying twelve Champions League campaigns, the Kadettens – with Spanish star Joan Cañellas in their ranks – are currently playing in the group stage of the European League (C2), where they drew with Nîmes (25-25) .

Meyer will expand his background by expatriating, but without being totally out of place, barely 150 km from his hometown of Sélestat (Bas-Rhin).
