“Julien-Lajoye Challenge: The International Rugby Tournament Returns After Cancellation Due to COVID-19”

After a 2020 edition interrupted in full preparation by the health crisis and then canceled the following year, still due to the Covid, the Julien-Lajoye Challenge, organized by RC Metz-Moselle, made its big comeback last year. With, at the end of a day always very appreciated by all the participants, the victory of Marcq-en-Barœul.

The northern club will be present this Sunday, May 28 on the lawns of Grange-aux-Bois to defend its title. In total, twelve teams in the category under 14 years old (minimum) boys and under 15 years old girls from France, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, will be in the running for this international tournament which maintains, year after year, the memory of Julien Lajoye…

An event that is particularly close to the heart of Michel and Ketty Jung, at the origin of this now unmissable event in the landscape of French and European rugby. “We really care about it,” slips the former president of the RCMM. “We launched this project twenty years ago and today, we find in the organization players who participated in the tournament when they were kids. It’s a special moment for them, for Julien’s family too and which is really unifying for the whole club. »

A moment of sharing with, in particular, the accommodation of the teams with the parents of the Metz players but also the obtaining of an eco-label (water fountain, water bottles, recyclable dishes) or the presence of the association Sports Recycling. So much for the extras, which are also the strength of this meeting.

Sponsored by Morgan Parra, the former of the house and now co-president – who will not be present since the Stade Français goes to La Rochelle this Sunday in Top 14 -, the Challenge Julien-Lajoye, eighteenth of the name, will begin around 9 a.m. and end with the awards ceremony around 5 p.m.
