PARIS – According to the French newspaper L’Équipe, German football coach Julian Nagelsmann will replace current coach Christophe Galtier on the bench of Paris Saint-Germain. The renowned periodical also reported on Sunday that Frenchman Thierry Henry could become the thirty-five-year-old German’s assistant.
According to L’Équipe, the agreement between the two parties should be sealed in the near future. Nagelsmann has been without a club since the end of March, when he left Bayern Munich after almost two years. Galtier won the eleventh league title with PSG, but the club did not fulfill the main goal, which was the triumph in the Champions League. The Parisians were already eliminated in the round of 16 against Bayern, who was coached by Nagelsmann at the time.
In the past few hours, reigning world champion Lionel Messi also announced his end at the Park of the Princes. On the contrary, Slovak representative Milan Škriniar from Inter Milan will join the team from the summer.
