Julian Nagelsmann in Talks with PSG, Thierry Henry Possible Addition to Coaching Staff

Julian Nagelsmann is negotiating with top French club PSG about taking over the coaching position, and Thierry Henry could also join. The former Bayern Munich coach has been unemployed since being fired by the Germans. Since then, both Chelsea and Tottenham have tried to lure the German into the Premier League. However, both seem to have failed.

Now the Daily Mail reports that PSG are the frontrunner for Naglesmann’s signing. Christophe Galtier could be on his way out after a disappointing season in which PSG only won the league. Nagelsmann was successful in his last two coaching positions at both RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. However, Nagelsmann has never made it outside of Germany.

He sees Thierry Henry as a means to better understand the French scene. The Arsenal legend has been a coach since retiring. These include stints in Major League Soccer with Montreal Impact and as an assistant with Belgium. However, he also coached AS Monaco in Ligue Un, where he was largely unsuccessful.

Thierry Henry would add star power to the PSG coaching staff. His status and relationship with Kylian Mbappé would make a difference in the PSG ranks, which have seen heavy drama this season with Lionel Messi and Neymar.

What Nagelsmann means to bring Thierry Henry to PSG

Henry is a name rumored to be floating around for the USMNT. The CBS experts on UEFA Champions League coverage didn’t just discuss their colleague’s availability for the role.

Henry has the aforementioned Belgian experience to bring to any coaching position he holds. Of course, he’s also one of the greatest players to ever walk a pitch. Therefore, he can teach some PSG talents, including Kylian Mbappé, how to take the next step.

Thierry Henry won the Champions League with Barcelona and that’s the natural progression for PSG. The club continue to dominate domestically, clinching another Ligue Un title last season. However, the club has not achieved European success, despite occupying the top three places with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé last season.
