According to reports, Julian Nagelsmann was initially offered the position of the new Chelsea manager, but he ultimately withdrew from the race. Chelsea sacked Graham Potter as their permanent manager after only 12 wins in 31 matches. Since then, former Blues midfielder Frank Lampard has taken the role of caretaker until the end of the season, but Chelsea has not improved, losing all four matches. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Nagelsmann was one of the early favourites for the vacant position, but he later pulled out of the race. The Daily Mail claims that Nagelsmann was spooked by the recruitment process, as he was under the impression that the job was his. It is now widely believed that Mauricio Pochettino, the former Tottenham manager, will be the successor to Graham Potter. Despite being praised for their management abilities, former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf is doubtful that Nagelsmann and Pochettino can handle the pressure of managing Chelsea.
