Julian Araujo makes his debut with Bournemouth

Mexico City. Mexican full-back Julián Araujo made his Premier League debut with Bournemouth on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. The Mexican came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute and had a direct performance.

Araujo, 23, who is emerging as a promising Mexican soccer player, joined Bournemouth this week after being transferred by Barcelona in a transfer worth $10.4 million. The tricolor signed with the Catalans in 2023 but did not play a single minute after being loaned last season to the Palmas club.

Now, with just a few days in England, the defender started the game on the bench and came on in the second half in place of his teammate Adam Smith. Although the Mexican showed dedication on the pitch, he was unable to reach the net.

In the game, Chris Wood gave Nottingham Forest the lead in the 23rd minute, but Antoine Semenyo equalised by scoring a shot from inside the box in the 86th minute. With the result, Bournemouth earned their first point at the start of the tournament.

Araujo and Edson Álvarez, who joined West Ham last season and is recovering from an injury he suffered during the Copa América, are the only Mexicans currently playing in the English league. In addition, Julián became the twelfth Mexican to play in the Premier League.
