At the end of the fourth day of the boxing competition at the Olympic tournament in Paris, a woman appeared between the ropes. Julia Love (57 kg).
Our representative’s rival was Omaylin Alcala. The Venezuelan was physically stronger, but from the beginning she was hunting for a strong, single punch, while Julka extended each action to three or four punches. She boxed loosely and, although she risked a bit, confidently won the first round with all the judges.
After the break, her opponent boxed a bit more aggressively, she hit more often and a bit lighter, and everything evened out. At times, there was chaos, a lot of bumping into each other and clinching, and after six minutes, everything got complicated. The Pole was ahead with one judge, but the other four had it tied. So everything was to be decided in the last round.
Szeremeta was initially surprised by a direct left cross, but she quickly responded with her own series. At this stage, there was much more boxing, and our representative felt better in such a fight. Half a minute before the end, Julka landed a spectacular right from a jump and sealed her victory with a vote ratio of 4-1. The judges scored it 30:27, 28:29 and three times 29:28. In this way, Julka secured her advancement to the 1/8 finals.
