Julia Ormond has filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, but also against her former agency and film company Disney. The actress holds the companies responsible for not intervening while Weinstein was guilty of sexual misconduct.
Ormond says she was forced to perform oral sex by film producer Weinstein in 1995. He allegedly put pressure on her and promised her roles while she was under the influence of alcohol.
The actress, who played roles in the 1990s Legends of the Fall in Sabrina, spoke to her agency after the incident about what happened. Her two representatives reportedly recommended that she not press charges because it would only harm her career.
“They told her she could reach a deal with Weinstein if she hired a lawyer, but that she shouldn’t expect it to bring in more than $100,000. They asked her, ‘Is it worth it to you? You can make more money acting in films,'” reads the court papers, which The Hollywood Reporter has in hand.

Ormond holds Disney partly responsible
Ormond argues that her agency did not adequately protect her. In the complaint, she writes that she should have been warned about Weinstein: for years before the incident, there were rumors that the producer could not keep his hands to himself.
The actress believes that Disney is also responsible for Weinstein’s behavior. In 1993, Disney acquired Miramax, the company that Weinstein had founded with his brother. According to Ormond, Disney did not intervene while Weinstein was guilty of sexual misconduct.
Weinstein is serving a 39-year prison sentence in New York. He was convicted twice of sexual assault and rape.
The producer of films like Shakespeare in Love in Pulp Fiction was accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women, including well-known actresses. The revelations about his years of misconduct led to the MeToo movement.
