Jujutsu Kaisen 0 from Crunchyroll/Funimation – 95% owned by Sony Pictures – is making a smash debut at the North American box office. Between Friday, the day of its release, and Sunday, the animated film collected 17.7 million dollars in revenue in the United States and Canada.
Of dark inspiration, this animated film adaptation of the manga of the same name and huge popular success in Japan, tells the fight of a young man who became an exorcist against evil spirits. It is, over these three days, the most viewed film in American and Canadian theaters.
To note that Jujutsu Kaison 0 got off to a very good start in France as well. Wednesday, the day of its release on 395 screens in the country, it garnered 113,443 admissions, according to CBO Box office figures. It is well ahead of all the other news of the week: Notre Dame is burningshowing in 752 cinemas, is second with 41,089 admissions on Wednesday.
Worldwide success for “The Batman”
The Batman continues to fly over the box office. Matt Reaves’ film earned 36.8 million in revenue from Friday to Sunday across the Atlantic, bringing the amount collected since its first day of operation to more than $300 million.
The feature film starring Robert Pattinson in the title role is a hit around the world: it has already accumulated nearly 600 million dollars in revenue.
Uncharted, adaptation of the successful video game, completes the podium of the weekend. The film, in which Tom Holland plays a treasure hunter, returns in the fifth week with 8 million dollars (125.9 million in total).
