“Jugend Musiziert”: Young Talents Impress Jury With Professionalism and Sensitivity

Zwickau (dpa) – At the end of the national competition “Jugend musiziert” the jury chairman Ulrich Rademacher praised the high level of the young musicians. They had deeply impressed the federal jury and left them speechless often enough, Rademacher summed up on Saturday. “Here, 13 and 14-year-olds play music with a sensitivity and professionalism that could only be heard a few decades ago during final examinations at music colleges.”

At the 60th edition of the competition, more than 2,200 young musicians in Zwickau and the surrounding area have shown their skills on instruments and singing since May 25th. The participants came from all over Germany and 21 German schools abroad. The jury awarded 511 first, 718 second and 588 third federal prizes. In addition, special prizes with a total value of 187,500 euros were awarded.

“Jugend musiziert” is the most important music competition for young talents in Germany. Saxony hosted the final for the second time.
