Sanne van Dijke has just secured a spot in the semi-finals. In her quarter-final, the strong Japanese Niizoe awaited. In their last encounter, in the semi-finals of the Judo Masters, Sanne managed to beat her and today she succeeded again. From the start, van Dijke looked strong and halfway through she was rewarded with a waza-ari score. She never relinquished this lead.
Sanne, who had a bad preparation due to a hernia, previously won in the eighth finals against her opponent from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Here too she started well, but as the match progressed she got a little less grip on the match and this resulted in a passivity penalty. Towards the end of the match Sanne got her on the ground. Unfortunately that did not result in a score, but she continued on the ground and applied a hold. She did not let go of this and her opponent knocked her out.
At 16:00 the final block starts in which Sanne will try to secure a place in the final. Her opponent in the semi-final is the Croatian Barbara Matic.
