Here is what to remember from these championships.
The number: 8
The tricolor delegation left Bulgaria with eight medals: 3 titles, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze. It logically ends up at the top of the European nations.
It was Cédric Révol, 27, who opened the ball by winning bronze in the -60 kg category, his first continental medal. The first day of competition was then marked by a shower of blue medals: a first title and two other medals.
Shirine Boukli, 23, brought France the first crown thanks to her victory over the Portuguese Catarina Costa in the -48 kg final, while Amandine Buchard, Olympic vice-champion in Tokyo, reigning European champion and world number one (-52 kg) and Sarah-Léonie Cysique (-57 kg), also Olympic vice-champion this summer, won silver.
Amandine Buchard had difficulty accepting defeat. “I was useless. I’m disgusted, I didn’t do the job, estimated with AFP Amandine Buchard. On some fights I left too much juice, I should have won them faster. »
Saturday, Marie-Eve Gahié has won the first continental crown of her career by winning gold in the under 70 kg category, where Margaux Pinot won bronze.

The disappointment: only one medal for men
The blue harvest on the men’s side was off to a flying start, however, with a first medal won on the first day by Cédric Revol. But the quest ended there: no other French judoka – out of nine representatives – brought back charms from Bulgaria.
In the absence of Teddy Riner, still in the preparation phase, the French did not know how to play their cards right. round.
Conversely, the Bleues, even without their leader Clarisse Agbégnénou, who is expecting a little girl, have boosted the scores, with seven medals.
The hat-trick: Romane Dicko
She won her third continental crown, beating the Israeli Raz Hershko. Already European champion in 2018 and 2020, the young Tricolore has never lost a single fight in three participations in the competition.

On Sunday, she bent all her opponents by ippon, being particularly expeditious in the quarter-finals by beating the Polish Kinga Wolszczak in 44 seconds.
In the final against the world number 3, Dicko quickly took the lead on a waza-ari after 30 seconds. With 1:30 remaining in a controlled fight, she finally knocked down Hershko on another ippon.
Less than a year after the Tokyo Olympics and two years from those in Paris, the tricolor results are more than satisfactory. The next step will be the Worlds, in Uzbekistan, in October.
