The decision of the 2nd Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Appeal of Athens was unanimously acquittal of the charges against journalist Gianna Papadakou and publisher Yiannis Filippakis, following a lawsuit filed by businessman S. Mionis.
It is recalled that the businessman had sued both of them about two years ago and in the Special Court with heavy charges, trying to convince the Justice that he was being slandered unjustly, but the Judicial Council of the Supreme Court solemnly acquitted him.
It is noted that the Panhellenic Federation of Editors’ Unions (POESY), and 13 other journalistic associations, were in favor of the journalist.
According to information, the parliament’s reasoning recognized that the journalist was only doing her job as part of the journalistic investigation.
