As we say, there is a time for work and a time for rest. This is the case for certain State services, including justice. It is in this dynamic that a holiday period is observed by all the jurisdictions of Burkina over a period of three months, precisely from July to September. “The period of judicial holidays is provided for by law.
Indeed, it is a right for all magistrates to benefit from leave during this period. It must be recognized that the judicial vacation period is not synonymous with the closing of the court. During this time, justice just works in slow motion unlike other months. Because at the moment, there is a reduction in the working staff, since each magistrate is entitled to 45 days of leave during these three months. So at this time, they are divided into two groups. A group to continue with the permanence and the other on leave, which thereafter takes over from the group which continued to work”, explained a practitioner of the law.
Besides “during the holidays, ordinary hearings are held three times a month instead of at least twelve times a month”. With regard to legal assistants such as lawyers and clerks, the latter revise their schedules according to the scheduling of hearings.
