At NRK’s Stjernekamp on Saturday night, hip hop was the musical theme. Knut Marius Djupvik from Vestnes sang second last of the remaining six artists, and performed Numb / Encore, by Jay-Z feat. Linkin Park.
It aroused excitement in the judging panel. There, the regular Stjernekamp judge Mona B. Riise had brought along Maria Lotus Karlsen, artist, dancer and choreographer, and director; and Jørgen Nordeng, among others a front figure in the hip-hop group Tungtvann.
Maria Lotus Karlsen’s verdict on Djupvik’s efforts was as follows: – Absolutely beautiful! Thank you! I had a great time! Yes, that’s how it should be done!
Jørgen Nordeng commented that Djupvik was one of the artists who had ridden the most hip hop style among the evening’s participants:
– You did it the rap way. You do not remember much about Jay-Z. But if you take off the fake gold chain, then you have made the best imitation of a Scandinavian middle-class rapper between 30 and 40 years I have ever seen!
The permanent judge, Mona B. Riise, was also very excited:
– It was so raw! I feel that power, bone hard! It was so flowing, so digg, it was just the way it should be! This was as good as you were in opera. This was one of your very best achievements!
Two Saturdays ago, opera was the theme, and then, as is well known, Knut Marius received standing ovations from all the judges.
Ken Marius
Especially in Saturday’s broadcast, was that the artists in the second block were divided into two teams that would each perform their group assignment in eurodance. Knut Marius Djupvik came together with Ingeborg Walther and Sandra Lyng – and got the task Barbie Girl with Aqua.
When the three were given the task, they first did not understand what eurodance was – and laughed well when they drew the note where it said Barbie Girl with Aqua.
The performance was very enjoyable, with Knut Marius as Ken, in a yellow wig, and Sandra Lyng and Ingeborg Walther as barbarians. The result got good words in the eurodance judging panel, especially Ken Marius – but the judges still landed unanimously on the competing group with a cowyboy dance variant.
However, the viewers should only vote for the individual artist, and then Djupvik proceeded safely. The one who had to leave Stjernekamp colleagues this time was Odd Einar Nordheim.
