According to the resolution issued this Thursday by District Judge J. Campbell Barker, the Biden administration “lacks legal authority” to apply its “parole in place” program, in a strong blow to the immigration policy of Democrat Biden, who will leave office. position in January 2025.
Biden’s plan, “Keeping Families Together,” was launched in June and seeks to benefit at least half a million immigrants in the United States.

The rules apply to those who were in the country for at least 10 years and married a US citizen before June 17, 2024, and also extend to approximately 50,000 stepchildren of US citizens.
They would be granted work authorization and the right to remain in the United States for up to three years while they apply for a green card. Previously, those who wanted to carry out this procedure had to make their arrangements outside the country, in a process that takes years and separates families.
“This decision is a deeply disappointing and unfair setback for families who live every day under the weight of uncertainty,” said Harold A. Solís, representative of Make The Road New York, an organization that works with migrants.
