Talpa Network, BNR and 100% NL will receive confirmation on December 13 if they could lose their radio frequencies. The Trade and Industry Appeals Tribunal will then rule on the appeal brought by the companies in the hope of postponing an announced auction.
With an FM license, radio stations can be listened to in FM and it is clear to everyone on which frequency you can find Radio Veronica or BNR Nieuwsradio, for example.
Normally, this distribution takes place every few years through an auction. As many radio stations had lost revenue due to the crown crisis, then Secretary of State for Economic Affairs (EKZ) Mona Keijzer decided that the auction was postponed for three years.
The KINK radio station does not have a frequency, but it wants one and has therefore started the proceedings on the matter. That procedure won the station and the minister then announced that the frequencies should be auctioned after all. Talpa Network (the company behind Radio 538, Radio Veronica, SkyRadio and Radio 10), BNR and 100% NL are now hoping the appeal will put the auction after all.
