Judge becomes fastest to 300 homers in Yankees rout

Aaron Judge noticed his teammates dancing in the bullpen as he rounded first base. And when he got to the plate, the joy was even more noticeable.

Judge reached 300 homers faster than any other player, connecting with a homer Wednesday in the New York Yankees’ 10-2 rout of the Chicago White Sox.

“It’s a great accomplishment,” Judge said. “Like I said a couple days ago, I was hoping this would come in a win. And it came in a big win for us. We were down for a while and we weren’t getting much done. Now I’m excited that this happened in a big moment.”

Judge reached the milestone in his 955th game and 3,431st at-bat, with a three-run shot in the eighth inning.

The six-time All-Star slugger, who was named the 2022 American League Most Valuable Player, found a high, inside sinker from Chad Kuhl on a 3-0 count and sent the ball into the left-field bullpen for his major league-high 43rd homer of the season.

Ralph Kiner reached 300 homers in his 1,087th game. Babe Ruth did it in his 3,831st at-bat.

Chicago had intentionally walked Juan Soto before Judge, who had not hit a 3-0 homer since 2021, came to bat.

Soto had hit a home run in the first inning off Davis Martin. It was his fourth homer in two games and his 34th of the season.

Tim Hill (4-0) got the win and Michael Torkin pitched three innings for his second save.

For the Yankees, Mexican Alex Verdugo was 1-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs. Dominican Soto was 1-for-2 with three runs scored and one RBI. Venezuelans Gleyber Torres was 0-for-4 and Oswaldo Cabrera was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI.

For the White Sox, Cubans Luis Robert Jr. 1-4, Miguel Vargas 1-4.
