Midfielder Jude Bellingham made his fourth Champions League appearance for Real Madrid and scored again, something no footballer has ever done before. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old English international also contributed one assist to the 4:2 victory over Napoli, which secured the Spanish club first place in Group C.
In the 22nd minute, Bellingham ran onto David Alaba’s accurate cross from deep in the field and headed it past goalkeeper Alex Meret. It was his 15th goal in 16 games for Real, who bought him in the summer for 103 million euros (2.43 billion crowns) from Dortmund. He has already surpassed his goalscoring record from last season, when he scored fourteen times for Borussia.

“It’s amazing how he goes to the goal. He goes there like a motorcycle,” coach Carlo Ancelotti praised his charge in a TV interview. “Nobody could have imagined that he would adapt here so quickly and perform like this. He surprises fans, teammates and opponents,” said the most successful coach in the history of the Champions League, which he was able to win four times.
The Italian coach was also pleased by the 19-year-old Argentinian Nico Paz, who scored the winning goal in the 84th minute. “I’m very happy, it’s a dream. I couldn’t believe it for a while,” said the player, who made his first appearance for Real only this month. “I’m very happy that I helped the team. I went for the automatic, I don’t even know how I hit it. My teammates were probably even more happy than me. It’s also a message for young players: it’s possible to get here,” said the son of the former Argentinian representative Pablo Paz, who started from the 65th minute.
