With the participation of 900 people of different ages, yesterday the race ‘Correle que no te alcáncer 2021’ was held, organized by three civil associations that promote the fight against cancer.

What was obtained by paying the registration of the participants will serve to help 100 patients from the three groups, and they will receive care according to what they need, announced Eloísa Ayala, from the Onamican Cancer Comprehensive Management Center, one of the organizing groups of the event that now had as its motto “All united for the fight against cancer”.

In addition to Onamican, the event was also organized by the Ciudad Juárez Children’s Cancer Protection Association (Aprocancer) and the Ciudad Juárez Challenge Group, organizations that work for people with cancer who do not have the service of official medical institutions.

The participants of this race, which took place virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, were registered for the raffle of a trip, dishes, bags for women, scarves and other items, according to what they gave to meet representatives of the organizing associations.

‘Come on, don’t get caught in 2021,’ explained Ayala, it was organized within the framework of activities to commemorate World Cancer Day, and with the purpose of raising awareness about the importance of prevention and timely detection of the disease.

He stressed that thanks to the contribution made by the people who signed up to take part in the virtual race, patients benefit from the services provided by these associations, and according to what was collected, the support will be for at least a hundred of people.

Participants in this race received the competition medal, which was now in pink designs to raise awareness about breast cancer, as well as the race shirt and the competitor number.

According to the dynamic for ‘Correle que no te alcáncer 2021’, the participants ran in the place they decided, some did it at home and others outside it, on the street, or in a park, then they took the respective photograph and sent it to the email of these groups.

Some of the participants did it together with their pet and also sent a photograph of the dog or any other animal, which gave them the right to participate in the raffle for a bag of food and toilets in some of the establishments that sponsor the race. One of the registrants took photos of his turtles to also motivate their care, he said.

With events like this race, said representatives of Aprocancer, Reto and Onamican, it is intended to create awareness in the population, both in men and in women, of the importance of being checked for any symptoms that they consider that something is happening in their body, since the prevention and timely care are the best weapons against cancer.
