The concert that Juanes offered this July 12 at the SummerStage in Central Park, New York, had to be suspended when the Colombian singer was just performing his second song before 5,000 people who attended inside the venue and with approximately 12,000 additional fans outside the establishment.

Given the continuous crowd at the doors and as a precautionary measure, the decision was made to stop the show, where attendees were asked to leave the venue.

Very sad that we couldn’t finish our show, but I want you to know that safety will always come first for us, above anything else. So I hope I can see you very soon. I love you very much and I hope you understand this is a force majeure and that it is getting out of hand”, commented Juanes in a video that he uploaded to his Twitter account.

“For the first time in 30 years, SummerStage had to halt an ongoing concert due to a non-weather related issue,” said Heather Lubov, Executive Director of City Parks Foundation SummerStage.

“SummerStage, LAMC and Juanes agreed that the safety of fans and concertgoers was of the utmost importance and, at the request of the New York Police Department, made the decision to cancel the show.”
