Juanda Runway Experiences Decline, Slightly Landslide

SIDOARJO, KOMPAS.com – Runway Juanda Airport reported experiencing interference, Sunday (22/5/2022). As a result, a number of flights were disrupted, including Batik Air.

Corporate Communications Strategic of Batik Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro said flight operations number ID-6309 from Juanda International Airport Surabaya to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport had been carried out according to standard operating procedures (SOP).

“Batik Air flight ID-6309 has been properly prepared,” said Danang in a release received by Kompas.com, Sunday (22/5/2022).

Prior to departure, the Airbus 320-200 registered with PK-LUJ was declared fit and safe to operate through a pre-flight check.

Batik Air flight ID-6309 is scheduled to take off at 09.10 WIB with 6 crew and 151 passengers.

When the plane slowly enters the runway, the pilot feels that the movement of the plane’s wheels is not as it should be (the plane is stuck or stuck), so it needs to be checked.

“The results of the check showed that the plane’s wheels/tyres entered the asphalt area at the end of the Juanda runway which had decreased from the surface (a bit collapsed),” he said.

As a result, the aircraft needed to be repositioned using a tow truck to make it easier to get out of the slightly collapsed runway area.

In an effort to ensure the safety and security of the flight, the aircraft was pulled back towards the parking runway (apron).

The results of the inspection of technicians and pilots, the aircraft is in good condition, airworthy, and safe or not damaged.

After the plane is parked perfectly in place, all passengers are directed to the waiting room. It also informs the impact that arises to all passengers.

“Batik Air is preparing for flight ID-6309 again on the same day (22/5/2022). The plane departs at 12.58 WIB and is scheduled to land at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 14.13 WIB,” he said.
