The bidding for Juan Soto is intensifying, as five teams have sent contract offers his way.
With MLB free agency underway, all eyes are on Juan Soto. After the 26-year-old superstar outfielder had a dominant 2024 campaign with the New York Yankees, he is expected to demand a massive contract now that he has hit the open market. And from the looks of it, the bidding for Soto’s signature has been narrowed to five teams.
A handful of teams met with Soto and his agent at the start of free agency to evaluate their market and see what he was looking for. From there, he narrowed down the list of teams interested in him, and there are now five teams with contract offers on the table. Those five teams are reportedly the Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
According to Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media, “The bidding for Juan Soto has narrowed to five teams that have offers on the table for the Yankees free agent outfielder, a person with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media on Monday. The Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers and Blue Jays all submitted contract offers to agent Scott Boras late last week, the source said. Numerous reports indicating that the first offers will arrive this week are not true, the source added. The next step will be negotiations between the clubs and Boras.”
Juan Soto’s free agency begins to heat up
New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto (22) reacts after a strikeout against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth inning during game four of the 2024 MLB World Series at Yankee Stadium.
Considering Juan Soto’s stated preference for playing in a large market and contending for a World Series title, which team among the five contenders (Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, Blue Jays) provides the most compelling combination of these factors?
