The letter is part of the “Love Letters to the World” project, an initiative by producer Rashid that began in 2020 with a message of thanks to Uruguay for the good treatment it received during the seven months it was there. in isolation.

The letter went viral and he decided to continue thanking the people he met around the world. In June of this year, she began to thank her city for her.

“And it’s been an honor for me to share, give visibility to the people who are making New York City and the world better,” Rashid said.

People like Juan Plaza, who arrived from Colombia in 1987 and after years of working in a store and as a street vendor, became the first Latino forensic investigator for the Queens Supreme Court.

“New York means the world to me because I arrived with a suitcase full of dreams and every single one of them came true,” Plaza said.

For 25 years, Plaza investigated cases of New Yorkers who died without wills. That’s where her mission to educate immigrants on the importance of leaving their last wishes and living to the fullest despite the hardships that come their way was born.

“Whenever I have the opportunity and I see an immigrant, wherever I am, I feel identified and I try to help as much as possible,” added Plaza.

With her mission to help the Latino community, Plaza has touched the lives of many people who send her messages of gratitude for being an example of improvement.

“I always have to keep dreaming, that I should never let my dreams die, that I have to make them come true and focus on what I want to achieve,” Plaza said.

“You are in control of how you want to live, with a good attitude or a bad one, and the opportunities that are presented to you through a good attitude are incredible,” Rashid added.
