After two years of blockade, the General Council of the Judicial Power has appointed a new president of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC). This is Juan Luis Lorenzo Bragado, current dean judge of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife provincial court, who will replace Antonio Doreste in office.
Bragado has obtained the necessary support from the members of the plenary session to be able to access the position, leaving the other two candidates in Liza without options: Pedro Herrera, magistrate of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas and José Felix Mota, magistrate of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In September 2020 the election of the new president of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands had already been postponed for lack of a consensus that today has been achieved.
The new president He entered the Judicial Career in 1989 and has served in judicial bodies in Puebla de Sanabria, Vitoria, Palencia and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He is an elected member of the TSJC and of the Government Chamber of the high court. In addition, it belongs to the Francisco de Vitoria Judicial Association.
