Juan José Ballesta was arrested by the National Police last November after getting into a violent altercation in the Madrid district of Hortaleza where he allegedly attacked and robbed an individual “after getting into an argument.” The protagonist of the film ‘El pelota’ allegedly snatched a 50 euro bill from this man, as well as a jacket, before fleeing in a vehicle.
After the arrest for this alleged robbery with violence, the Prosecutor’s Office decided not to charge the actor with any crime since the reported events “were not criminal in nature.” For this reason, the judge ordered his release without precautionary measures. For his part, Juan José Ballesta denied before the Court of Instruction number 29 of Madrid that he had committed the robbery and maintained that it was the other party who previously attacked him.
The actor reported a crime of injuries alleging that the individual punched him after he refused to finance a video clip, as explained by his lawyer Beatriz Uriarte shortly after his release.
The testimony of a police officer
According to legal sources informing EFE, the head of the Court of Instruction number 29 of Madrid took statements this Monday from two key witnesses who would clarify what happened: one of the police officers who was at the scene and a friend of the accused. The complainant did not attend the summons.
