Sergio Massa and Juan Grabois to Compete in Unión por la Patria Primaries
In the Unión por la Patria coalition, Sergio Massa has been chosen as the candidate for unity, but he will not be the only one. He will face off against Juan Grabois, leader of the Frente Patria Grande, who criticized him on social media after the Minister of Economy participated in the La Rural event organized by the Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA).
The presidential pre-candidate stated, “Yesterday, some candidates went to take an exam at ‘La Rural.’ No politician from our field should go to dine with the oligarchy masters, to compete and see who can give them more concessions, especially not with those who have worked against the great homeland and speculate with the food of our people in an Argentina with 60% of children living below the poverty line and an inflation rate of 115%.”
Grabois denounced, “Do you know who Nicolás Pino and Marcos Pereda Born are? The first is a protégé of Luis Miguel Etchevehere, and the second is a financier of María Eugenia Vidal. They are both notorious conspirators against the people and chronic usurpers of public property. Another fundamental aspect is that this is a public space expropriated from the people and appropriated by the richest of the rich.”
Furthermore, Grabois revealed, “When we win, we will enforce with all the rigor of the law Decree 2552 signed by CFK in December 2012, which annuls the fraudulent sale of the Palermo fairground that Menem, Cavallo, and the Suciedad Rural cheated Argentina with in 1991 (final ruling). We will recover the place for the people and create a great educational, scientific, technological, and cultural center, public and free, as well as a permanent market for regional economies, agroecology, family farming, and indigenous agriculture. We will take immediate possession of the land as soon as we assume government.”
Grabois concluded, “Our struggle for a Humane Argentina is nothing more than giving back to the people what was stolen from them, ensuring that the land belongs to those who work it and those who need it to live. Let us be faithful to our history. Let us reclaim what is ours,” he requested via his Twitter account, where the Massa camp also responded.
The response to Juan Grabois came from Sebastián Galmarini, Director of the Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires and brother of Malena, Sergio Massa’s wife. “Many of us no longer have any doubts that you are working for Juntos por el Cambio to win. You have the right to do so, but everyone should know,” asserted the leader.
“You have no chance of winning, neither in the primaries nor in the general election. Know that voting for you is giving the chance to return to Macrismo,” concluded the Frente Renovador official on behalf of the space led by the Minister of Economy, with whom he will compete on August 13th to determine who will go to the general elections in October.

How does attending an event related to agribusiness impact the image of political candidates in the context of rural worker exploitation?
Is that they are employers in the agribusiness sector, which means that they directly profit from the exploitation of rural workers.”
In response to Grabois’ criticism, Massa defended his decision to attend the event, stating that he went in order to address the concerns and needs of the rural sector. He stressed the importance of dialogue and finding common ground, even with those who may have different ideologies.
Massa stated, “It is essential to listen to all sectors and build bridges, even with those who may have different opinions. This is how we can create a more inclusive and fair country for all.”
Both Massa and Grabois will now compete in the Unión por la Patria primaries, where party members will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate. The winner of the primaries will become the official candidate for the coalition in the upcoming elections.
The Unión por la Patria coalition was formed with the objective of uniting different sectors of the Argentine political landscape to provide a viable alternative to the current government. The coalition consists of various political parties, social movements, and trade unions, all working together towards a common goal of a better Argentina.
The upcoming primaries will serve as an important step in the coalition’s journey towards the general elections. The outcome of this internal competition will determine the direction and leadership of the coalition, as well as shape the political landscape of Argentina in the upcoming years.
