Osorio is the new coach of Athletico
The soap opera about who will lead Athletico in the 2024 season is over. The coach’s last job was at Zamalek, in Egypt, between 2022 and 2023.

This will be Osorio’s second stint in Brazilian football. In 2015, he coached São Paulo for 29 matches. The information was initially given by the profile MercadoFutbolBR in X and confirmed by OneTwo Sports.
“With an established name and considerable experience in the main scenes of world football, the Colombian coach arrives at Rubro-Negro for the challenge of leading the team in this year of the athletic centenary”, wrote the club on its official website.
The Colombian began his career as an assistant coach for Manchester City, in England, between 2001 and 2006. He then coached Millonarios, in Colombia, before moving on to Chicago Fire and NY Red Bulls, in the United States.

Osorio returned to his home country to manage Once Caldas, in 2010, and had a brief spell at Puebla, in Mexico. Then, in 2012, he took over Atlético Nacional, where he was successful and stayed for four seasons. There were five titles in total with the Verdolagas.

The great work earned the commander the opportunity to work at São Paulo in 2015. However, he left Morumbi after four months to take over the Mexico national team, leading the team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Afterwards, he briefly coached the Paraguay national team.

Osorio also managed Atlético Nacional and América de Cali, both in Colombia, before going to Zamalek, in Egyptian football. He has two victories in the Colombian Cup, a Colombian Superliga, as well as four Colombian Championship tournaments, as well as a runner-up in the South American Championship.
