Enfant terrible of Czech education announces new partners. In its JK Education, which operates private schools of the American Academy, the financial group J&T buys a twenty-three percent share. The value of the transaction was not disclosed, however, according to Forbes estimates, it is higher in the tens of millions of crowns.
The investment itself took place through the JTFG Fund I SICAV, whose investors are J&T Arch Investments and J&T Banka. J&T Arch Investments is full of qualified investors, so it can be said that a number of wealthier Czechs hold a stake in Kanio’s group.
“Ondřej Kania is a prototype of a young entrepreneur who returned with a clear vision after studying abroad. Today, he heads a dynamic training group with an international dimension, “said Adam Tomis, a member of the J&T Arch Investments investment committee, about the transaction.
“The growing demand for quality education, the growth so far, the results of the JK Education group and the scalability of its business model were the main reasons for entering a completely new segment for us,” he added.
The Espira fund, backed by Andrea Ferancová Bartoňová and Emília Mamajová, recently left the JK Education group. He has held fifty percent since the fall of 2018.
After Prague, Brno and Bratislava, this year Kania opened its international school American Academy in Zagreb. It aims to run around ten schools across Europe, including an online school, over a period of three to four years. Up to 1,200 students should receive education in them.
“We believe that the opportunity to draw on the know-how of such an important group as J&T will help us both in the development of our existing projects and in the identification and especially the realization of new opportunities,” commented J&T’s entry into its Kania group.
