Kevin Mirallas celebrated his 33rd birthday today with a contract with Turkish first division Gaziantep. The 60-time Red Devil was without a club since his contract with Antwerp expired on July 1.
Gaziantep is a mid-rider in the Turkish first class. Last season it finished 8th. The new season started disappointingly with 3 out of 12. The club is thus currently 17th, just above the relegation line.
Mirallas was brought in with a big drum at Antwerp last year. The flank attacker wanted to revive his career with the Red Devils on the Bosuil, but that turned out to be vain hope. The Antwerp fans never saw the best Mirallas, who got stuck in 21 duels on 2 goals and 2 assists.
Turkey will be the 6th football country in Mirallas’ career. Previously, he played at the highest level in France (Lille and Saint-Etienne), Greece (Olympiakos), England (Everton), Italy (Fiorentina) and Belgium (Antwerp).
