Real Madrid more comfortable at the top of the standings Spanish League this season, after beating Real society 2-0 in the 16th jornada.
Playing at the Reale Seguros Stadium, Sunday (5/12/2021) early in the morning, Madrid scored the first goal through Vinicius Junior in the 47th minute. Ten minutes later, Luka Jovic doubled Los Blancos’ advantage, which lasted until the end.
This additional three points make Madrid firmly in the top position with 39 points. While Sociedad is in fifth position with 29 points.
The course of the match
Madrid been threatening since the 3rd minute. Vinicius fired from outside the box, but it was saved by the goalkeeper Society, Alex Remiro.
Karim Benzema picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Luka Jovic in the 17th minute, but Madrid’s attack was unaffected by the exit of the French striker.
Vinicius had another chance in the 20th minute, this time in the penalty box. He directed his shot into the middle, and was easily anticipated by Remiro.
Society hit back through Adnan Januzaj, but the Belgian’s long-range shot was also not on target. In the 22nd minute, Remiro again struggled to save his goal, this time from Rodrygo’s right-footed shot.
Madrid still had a chance in the 25th minute through Luka Modric’s action, but Remiro was able to hold the Croatian midfielder’s shot. While the experiment from Mikel Oyarzabal in the 44th minute also failed to meet the target. The score 0-0 closed the first half.
In the second half, Madrid immediately took the lead in the 47th minute. A one-two between Jovic and Vinicius was completed by the latter with a right-footed shot that went into the bottom left corner of the Sociedad goal, beating Remiro.
One goal lead makes Madrid getting excited. Sure enough, in the 57th minute, El Real again added to the score.
This time it was Jovic who listed his name as a goalscorer. Taking advantage of Toni Kroos’ corner kick, the ball was met by Casemiro’s header which led to Jovic. The Serbian striker then heads the ball into the net Society, changing the score to 2-0.
In the remaining time, both teams were unable to add goals. Madrid closed this match with a 2-0 win.
