Popular TikTokker Jovante Carter (22) has won the bizarre world record ‘gurning’ by stretching his lower lip over his nose longer than anyone else. The twenty-something used to be ridiculed for his appearance, but decided to “turn the tables” and now has millions of followers on social media.

Jovante Carter, better known by his online nickname “HolyGxd,” was able to hold his lower lip over his nostrils for a whopping 1 minute and 2 seconds. The twenties did this during a broadcast of the Italian television show ‘Lo show dei record’, in which several world records have been broken before.
He thus breaks the previous record of 53 seconds, set in 2012 by China’s Shuquan Tang during the same television show.
“We showed up, we did our thing,” he told the crowd as he walked off stage after receiving his Guinness World Records certificate.
The 22-year-old resident of the American city of New Orleans has gained more than 16.9 million followers on TikTok and another 1.5 million on Instagram over the years by making the absurd face.

Holding your breath
“If you do this trick with your face, you cannot breathe,” explains judge Marco Frigatti. “So you basically have to hold your breath and all the muscles involved quickly become exhausted.”
Carter discovered his talent at school. “I was having lunch and my classmate told me that when I eat, my whole face disappears,” he told Guinness. “He asked me to chew without food, I chewed and did this with my face. Of course everyone laughed and my teacher went crazy.”
Although he now has millions of followers who enjoy his videos online, Carter was bullied growing up because of his funny and thin appearance.
“I decided to turn the tables, show positivity to everyone and take back control of my uniqueness, which was so laughed at,” he said.
“I try to make other people feel more comfortable with the things I do about the things that make them different,” he added.
