Tehran: Iran has arrested a journalist who reported the death of Mehsa Amini. Media operator Nilufar Hamidi was arrested. It was Nilufar who released the information that Mehsa Amini was beaten by the Iranian police and taken into custody.
The infamous Evin prison, where Nilufar was imprisoned, had a fire the day before. With this, the family expressed concern for Nilufar’s safety. Nilufar reported that he escaped from the violence and fires in the prison.
On September 16, Nilufar Hamidi announced to the world the news of Mehsa Amini’s death via Twitter. Mehsa Amini, who was unconsciously treated in a Tehran hospital, also shared a photo of her parents hugging her.
Iranian police arrested Mehsa Amini on September 16 on suspicion of not wearing the hijab correctly.
