Journalist Mansour Aoun, one of the founders of Voice of Lebanon Radio, was absent this Sunday morning.
He will celebrate the prayer for his repose at four o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 27th of this month, in the Church of Saint Elias Al-Hay – Damour. Condolences will be accepted before the burial in the church hall, starting at eleven in the morning, and on Tuesday, the 28th of this month, in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes – Ain El Remmaneh, starting at eleven in the afternoon until six in the evening.
The head of the Syndicate of Lebanese Press Editors, Joseph Al-Qasifi, mourned his friend and companion for many years on “Voice of Lebanon” radio, saying: “My friend Mansour Aoun departs at the height of the nation’s pain, which he loved with a love beyond imagination. The radio had a roaring sound like the waterfall of Jezzine in the depths of winter, or like a devastating wave crashing on the shore of his coastal town, which he had left and returned to, just as a lover returns to his first home after a long circumambulation. Mansour Aoun was one of the group distinguished by his strong presence, competence, and loud voice speaking the truth, even if It cost him dearly. After Taif, this man who occupied the airwaves moved away from the media, but he did not distance himself from public affairs, participating in media and cultural activities in Damour that presented the first martyr of journalism, Saeed Fadel Akl, as well as the last martyr, Nassib Al-Matni, as well as dozens of journalists and media professionals whose fame spread across the horizons. “.
He concluded: “My impulsive, kind-hearted friend, generous with tears, and warm in feelings, I cry for you with all the tears that I have stored, and I tie my sadness into a braid of endless longing, even if you are in the grave. Your voice will remain loud, the hustle and bustle of the life that you have, even if it is suppressed prematurely.” Sleep soundly, my friend.”
