Language and science journalist Liesbeth Koenen passed away on Wednesday. Various fellow journalists report this on social media.
Koenen has worked as a journalist since 1986, including for NRC and Vrij Nederland. In addition, she was an editor at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) for 23 years and worked as a guest lecturer at the Post-academic Journalism Program (Erasmus University) and a columnist at De Telegraaf.
Koenen has also written numerous books. Koenen is praised on social media. She turned 62 years old.

Oh no, I just got word that happy, noisy, crazy language, opinionated, inspiring @LiesKoen Liesbeth Koenen has passed away. She was the first science journalist I ever met in person, and immediately felt welcome. What a shame #lieskoen
