Journalist and presenter Aart Zeeman leaves NPO after forty years | NOW

Aart Zeeman stops with the public broadcaster after forty years, the 63-year-old presenter and journalist reports on Tuesday Facebook.

“August 18, 1980, almost forty years ago. On the bike from his hometown Huizen, via the dreaded cycle path ‘prayer without end’ to Hilversum”, Zeeman starts his message on the social medium.

“To the monumental building of the Dutch Christian Radio Association on the Schuttersweg. With the smallest – but still much too large – Aristona pocket radio in the inside pocket. Listening to the morning broadcast of Here and now-radio.”

“The television brother” of that program started training and Zeeman was “one of the young dogs”, he writes. “The start of an exciting adventure.” That adventure comes to an end this month, according to the journalist. “I will leave the public broadcaster and continue on my own two feet. It were forty beautiful years …”

Zeeman worked for current affairs programs, among other things Here and now in Focal point. After Focal point disappeared from television in 2018, the presenter made several documentaries.
