Almost all S-Bahn and regional railways in the Rhine-Main area are affected by the strike of the German train drivers’ union. While many lines only run every hour, some are completely canceled. An overview.
The following S-Bahn are affected:
the S1 (Wiesbaden – Frankfurt – Rödermark-Ober-Roden) runs every 60 minutes between Rödermark-Ober Roden and Frankfurt-Höchst. There is a rail replacement bus service between Hochheim and Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof.
the S2 (Niedernhausen – Frankfurt – Dietzenbach) runs every 60 minutes, but only between Dietzenbach train station and Offenbach Ost until around 8 p.m., after that the line runs between Dietzenbach train station and Niedernhausen (Taunus). The trains on the RB22 line stop between Frankfurt-Höchst and Niedernhausen (Taunus) at all subway stations. Passengers can use the S1 and S8 lines.
Also the S3 (Bad Soden – Frankfurt – Langen – Darmstadt) runs every 60 minutes between Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof and Bad Soden (Taunus). the S4 (Kronberg – Frankfurt – Langen / Darmstadt) also runs every hour, but only between Niederhöchstadt and Kronberg (Taunus). Passengers are asked to switch to line S3.
the S5 (Friedrichsdorf – Bad Homburg – Frankfurt) runs every 60 minutes only between Frankfurt Süd and Friedrichsdorf. the S6 (Friedberg – Bad Vilbel – Frankfurt) runs once an hour between Frankfurt West and Friedberg. the S8 (Wiesbaden – Mainz – Frankfurt Airport – Frankfurt – Offenbach – Hanau) runs every hour between Hanau Central Station and Wiesbaden Ost.
the S7 (Riedstadt – Groß-Gerau – Frankfurt) as well as the S9 (Wiesbaden – Mainz – Frankfurt Airport – Frankfurt – Offenbach – Hanau) have been completely discontinued. As an alternative, the RE70 trains stop between Frankfurt main station and Riedstadt-Goddelau at all subway stations.
The following RMV railway lines are affected by the strike:
the RE4 / RE14 (Karlsruhe / Mannheim – Mainz – Frankfurt), RB48 (Nidda – Friedberg – Frankfurt), RE5 (Fulda – Bad Soden-Salmünster – Hanau – Frankfurt), RE50 (Bebra – Fulda – Hanau – Frankfurt) and RB51 (Wächtersbach – Hanau – Frankfurt), RE60 (Mannheim – Bickenbach – Darmstadt – Langen – Frankfurt) and the RB67 (Mannheim / Schwetzingen – Neu-Edingen / Friedrichsfeld – Darmstadt – Frankfurt) are completely omitted. On the line RE2 (Koblenz – Mainz – Frankfurt Airport – Frankfurt) and RE25 (Koblenz – Limburg – Gießen) only a few trains were canceled.
The lines run every 60 minutes: RE20 (Limburg – Niedernhausen – Frankfurt), RB22 (Limburg – Niedernhausen – Frankfurt), RB34 (Glauburg-Stockheim – Bad Vilbel – Frankfurt), RB61 (Dieburg – Rödermark – Dreieich – Frankfurt) and RB68 (Wiesloch-Walldorf – Heidelberg – Neu-Edingen / Friedrichsfeld – Darmstadt – Frankfurt).
The following lines run every two hours: RE30 (Kassel – Treysa – Marburg – Gießen – Frankfurt), RB40 (Dillenburg – Gießen – Frankfurt) and RB41 (Treysa – Giessen – Frankfurt).
There are also changes to the line RE70 (Mannheim – Biblis – Frankfurt): The trains only run between Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and Lampertheim.
